WilmerHale Elevates Andrew Danford to Partner WilmerHale is pleased to announced that Andrew Danford will be elevated to partner as of January 1, 2018. Mr. Danford joined the firm in 2007, where he has since focused his practice on intellectual property disputes at the trial and appellate levels. He has represented clients in patent disputes involving a broad range of fields, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, smartphones, microprocessors, telecommunications networks and internet technologies. Mr. Danford's practice encompasses all stages of litigation—from pre-suit investigations through discovery, summary judgment, trial and appeal. His recent trial experience includes several bench and jury trials in federal district courts in California, Texas and Wisconsin. He has also appeared in more than 10 appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as in several appeals before the United States Supreme Court. In addition, Mr. Danford has experience representing clients in inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. While attending Stanford Law School, Mr. Danford was a member of the Stanford Criminal Defense Clinic, where he drafted state and federal habeas petitions for prisoners sentenced under California's Three Strikes law. Following law school, Mr. Danford clerked for the Honorable Sandra L. Lynch of the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Mr. Danford is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New York, as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Derek Roller is a partner in Nutter’s Intellectual Property Department. Clients rely on Roller to help them navigate through patent and trademark application preparation and prosecution, as well as more specialized procedures, such as inter partes review, reexamination, and litigation. Roller is also well-versed in a variety of aspects of IP law, including strategic portfolio planning, preparing opinions on patent infringement and validity, as well as conducting freedom to operate and inventorship studies.

He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Boston Bar Association, as well as a member and 2017 Pro Bono Committee co-chair for the Boston Patent Law Association. Roller is a graduate of Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science and Boston College Law School.
Dan Young has been promoted to Shareholder at his firm, Wolf Greenfield. Dan Young works with clients across a broad range of technology areas to develop and implement IP strategies that are aligned with their business goals through portfolio management, patent prosecution, due diligence support, and third-party IP evaluations, focusing primarily in the areas of cell-based therapies, nucleic acid-based therapies, immuno-oncology approaches, antibodies, vaccines, gene therapies, genomics and bioinformatics, biomedical devices, marine and clean energy technologies. Dan is also the BPLA’s 2018 Treasurer.
